Thank The Donor

Blood cannot be recreated or manufactured in a lab. It can only be donated by people who want to make a difference in the lives of patients they will probably never meet. Whether it's you or a loved one receiving blood, wouldn't it be nice to tell your blood donor, Thank You?

Well, now you can! Just go to thankthedonor.org

The Thank the Donor Program is a tool that allows blood product recipients, their family or friends to send a one-way, anonymous thank you message to the actual person(s) who donated the blood products received.

Medical facilities currently participating in the program: CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital–Shoreline, CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital–South, CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital–Beeville, Corpus Christi Medical Center–Doctors Regional, Corpus Christi Medical Center–Bay Area, & Del Cielo Home Care.

"Thank you for donating your blood! I’m anemic and I just had my baby boy. I really needed it since he took most of it...appreciate it so much."

Male donor recipient

"Believe it or not, you literally saved my life. My hemoglobin level was at a 2.2 and I was on the verge of dying. Thanks to you, my levels are rising and my outcome looks really good! I will forever be grateful for your donation."

"Thank you for donating blood. My mom has Stage IV Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Carcinoma. Her blood counts had dropped after a GI infection. She needed the blood to be stable and be eligible for her next chemotherapy treatment. You helped prolong her life and increase her chances in her fight against this awful disease."

Thank The Donor Program

Thank-The-Donor program connects patients with the actual donor of the blood product they received. Patients can send a note, photo or video to their donor using a smartphone, tablet or computer. The groundbreaking program breaks the communication barriers with a new and different way to share a “thank you” while protecting the anonymity of both the donor and patient. It is a perfect opportunity to thank the individual(s) who saved your life.

To thank the donor(s) that provided blood to you or a loved one, click this link: thankthedonor.org. This link will take you to the official Thank the Donor website where you will be asked to identify yourself as a ‘patient’ or ‘family or friend’. Once you have clicked the correct button, the website will take you to write a personal thank you and include a picture or video of the blood donor recipient, if desired. While your information will always remain anonymous, the website will ask you to fill out some basic information like your name, reason for the blood transfusion & the medical center you received the transfusion from. Once you have filled out this information, you are able to select who you’d like to share this information with: the hospital, the blood center and/or social media. After you have filled out this information, the next page will ask you to scan the barcode on the blood bag with your camera or to manual insert the barcode. Once you have completed the brief form, you have a chance to look over the personal thank you note that will be anonymously sent to the blood donor that provided you or your loved one a second chance at life.
