Join the Coastal Bend Blood Center's Pint Size Hero Program
The Coastal Bend Blood Center launched our latest program, Pint Size Heroes in 2019 to help raise awareness for the need for blood donations and blood donors. While students under the age of 17 cannot donate blood, it is never too early to begin educating our students just how easy saving lives in our community is. This program will encourage leadership skills & community involvement in our young Coastal Bend Community students. Participating Elementary & Middle Schools will host blood drives & encourage parents, staff & community to donate on behalf of your student/Pint Size Hero. Students that receive two or more donations in their name during the school year will be rewarded with a youth T-Shirt & a medal or certificate at the end of the year school awards banquet.

The day before you donate:
- Drink plenty of water
- Increase sodium intake
- Get a good night's sleep
Before you donate blood:
- Eat a well-balanced meal
- Drink plenty of water
- Bring a picture ID
How to earn a Pint Size Hero Award:
- Students will need to recruit two+ individuals to donate on their behalf throughout the school year.
- Students who meet this requirement will receive a Pint Size Hero T-Shirt & an award at their school's end-of-year awards assembly.
