WHAT'S RIGHT FOR MY TYPE?

Why Give A single whole blood donation can save as many as three lives.

Every three seconds someone needs blood.

The fact is blood donors save lives. It’s that simple and that important. More than four million Americans would die each year if not for blood donors. In the Coastal Bend, more than 120 people a day must donate blood in order to maintain the blood supply for our community.

Every day, hundreds of patients in the Coastal Bend need timely blood transfusions to survive. But it’s not just the patients in our community that benefit from blood drives. The individuals, organizations, churches, schools and companies that participate in area blood drives receive lasting benefits as well.

Stories from the Heart

A Significant Way to Give Back

You may not be able to change the world, but when you become a blood donor you are giving patients in our community a second chance at life. With hospital expansions and new surgical breakthroughs taking place in the Coastal Bend the need for blood is expected to grow considerably over the next several years. Donating blood allows you to play a key role in maintaining an adequate blood supply in the Coastal Bend.

Convenient Volunteer Opportunity

In general, people want to give back to their communities, but finding the right volunteer opportunity is not always easy. Blood donation is a convenient and meaningful way for people to make a significant difference in the lives of residents across the Coastal Bend.

Those who are unable to provide a blood donation can still play an active role by volunteering to assist in the planning and organizing of blood drives within the community. The more people involved in getting the word out the greater chance we have of hosting successful blood drives and meeting the blood needs of the day.

A Great Health Resource

Giving blood is also a great way for donors to gain access to vital information pertaining to their own health. A free mini-physical is given at the time of donation, which includes a screening of blood pressure, pulse, temperature and iron levels. Then, following the donation, blood donors are mailed information regarding their blood type and cholesterol level.

We Appreciate Your Donation

All blood donors will receive a t-shirt and Sonic coupon at the time of their donation.
